“Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

In this quote, Emerson advises his readers to become a leader for their own life. There may be many times in our lives where we can follow the steps that others have taken before us just because it is easier. Emerson encourages us to do otherwise. He says to create our own way of living and achieving the things we want to do opposed to what others have done. It makes individuals unique and different. Emerson was a transcendentalist. Transcendentalism is a movement in the early 17th century that contained philosophical and spiritual elements. That explains why Emerson had views like this, and used them to inspire the others around him.

“The mind is everything. What you think, you become.” – Buddha

In this quote, Buddha inspires others in a powerful way. Whatever we think about will dictate how we act. This is very true. A positive mind turns into a positive life. The person you are today is due to the mindset you had while creating yourself. Buddha is a religious figure for the religion of Buddhism. When he was twenty-nine years old, he started meditation where he became more inspirational and inspired others to do so. He started teaching others around him the various ways of which he lives his life and explained to others how they can liberate themselves from suffering of any form. The motivation he used was love and compassion allowing people to find “nirvana.”

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” – Mahatma Gandhi

Gandhi lived his life with nonviolent passive resistance. It is a powerful way to protest peacefully. Gandhi explains in this quote that by helping others, that is the only way we can feel whole. This is how we find true happiness. Gandhi was known as “the great-souled one.” In the early 1900s, it was Gandhi who was the leading figure of the departing of Great Britain in order to gain independence. Gandhi was always very simple with his life and often took hunger strikes to protest the oppression of India’s poorest classes. He lived his life doing service for others and has encouraged those around him to do so as well.

The messages from all of these people should allow us to live a better life with helping the people who are in need around us. By encouraging those around us to achieve the desires they may have, it could benefit the world and make an impact.
