Probably the best part of watching television is being able to see little, itty bitty piece of ourselves in our favorite characters. What could be better than chilling out to some Netflix and watching our favorite characters tackle the same issues we were tackling earlier that very day? And it’s pretty clear that some characters might be a little more relatable (ahem, Rory Gilmore versus, say, Blair Waldorf?) Here are our favorites:
Rory Gilmore from Gilmore Girls
Of course we’d pick Rory to be on this list – she’s everyone’s girl. Rory might be a total super-genius, but beneath it all she’s just a chick trying to navigate herself through this world, with a few bouts of awkwardness and guy trouble along the way. Who could be more relatable than that?
Liz Lemon from 30 Rock
Liz Lemon definitely frames her day around when she can eat some cheese, and you know what? We do, too. Between her super normal sense of style to her reactions to someone hitting on her at the bar (“I already have a drink. Do you think he’d buy me mozzarella sticks?”), there is a small Liz that lives inside of all of us.
Leslie Knope from Parks and Rec
Obviously we had to chat about Liz Lemon’s comedy counterpart, Leslie Knope. If Liz is us when we’re thinking about food, Leslie is us when we’re planning our study sessions. Leslie is smart and enthusiastic, which is everything we are here at Spire & Co.
Hannah Horvath from Girls
Okay, so did you think that all of these were going to be like, the most flattering things in the world? Every young adult has a teensy bit of self-centered in them, and that’s where our Girls heroine comes in. Even though Hannah Horvath is totally characteristic of the Millennial generation, it’s a little comforting to know that we aren’t alone when we have love life or professional life or just life life issues.
Jess Day from New Girl
No list of relatable TV characters would be complete without Jess Day. While the girl can be kind of an awkward mess, she’s passionate and sweet and innately kind, and just might be your TV twin. Jess just wants to do the right thing and make sure her friends are happy, too, and that’s pretty relatable to all of us here at Spire & Co.
